Lancashire County Council will soon begin consultation on a new application for shale gas development at a site in West Lancashire.
The council recently received a planning application from Aurora Energy Resources to drill, hydraulically fracture and test two exploratory boreholes at the site at Sutton’s Lane, Great Altcar, West Lancashire.
Since then planning officers have been working to validate the application, and it has now been published on the council's website. The application will be advertised in the Liverpool Echo and Southport Visitor on Friday 26 July. Site notices and individual letters to residents will be posted the same day, marking the start of a 28 day public consultation process.
The council's planning team will now be working to consider responses received from the public and other statutory agencies, and assess the application, to ensure all the information needed to determine the application is put before the Development Control Committee.
The application can be found on the planning register - search 'planning' on the council's website www.lancashire.gov.uk for links to the planning register then search for the application number LCC/2019/0037.
